Villa Monterey

Another historic trend leader around Downtown Scottsdale is the adults-only Villa Monterrey townhouses along Chaparral Road west of Hayden Road. Some of them have even been recognized by the city as a historic district.

The two- and three-bedroom units are also affordable by current Scottsdale standards and offer different looks from the front in similar homes, from Spanish to Moorish. It’s hard to believe they did not spring up from different builders with totally different concepts, but they are Ralph Haver constructs. Cookie-cutter, it isn’t.

They are close but not really in the middle of Downtown Scottsdale, but right in the middle of hundreds of restaurants, entertainment spots, retailers, and events – plus walking distance to the pastoral Indian Bend Wash, with miles of parks, ponds, picnic places, walking and biking paths, and recreation, including golf. Some have Camelback Mountain views.

The homes were constructed from 1961-1973, with separate associations and rules (and pools) for each.
